So, look, the old site was a ton of work to manage, and I don’t even think my mom was reading it. At any rate, I recently saw a few mentions of Hugo. I finally took the time to dig into it, and I really like the way it works. Basically, it is a static site generator. No more php. No more fiddly cms to deal with. I’m hoping that it will drastically reduce the overhead on the site, and therefore stop my saying, “Hmm this is cool, I should put it on the site. Nah, too much work. Retweet instead”. I’m also using the Academic Theme
I have started going through old posts and am pulling the ones that actually have current value to the new site. I also got all motivated and did some back posts that were in the “too much work, just retweet” category at the time.
Side note: There wasn’t an easy way to migrate date information from the old posts. I went ahead and pulled the dates from more recent articles, but hey, it goes right back to the overhead. The rest I put in a roughly chronological order. For the back posts I dated them to coincide with the social media share. Let’s call all of the dates a best effort.
